Schools Ski-Wear Sales Representative

The Role:

To conduct ski information evenings at schools, providing advice on ski clothing and accessories to students and the parents of students attending a school ski trip.

There will be an average of 3-4 evenings per week required from early October to Christmas, the duration of the evenings vary depending on the location of the school, but departure may be required as early as 2/3pm in the afternoon and return to home as late as midnight, however most are from around 3pm to 10pm.

Additional weekend hours may also available in our shop in Rochford.

Base Location: Rochford, Essex

Tasks:

  • Loading car/van with stock, fixtures and fittings, POS etc at Rochford headquarters and driving to the school location where information evening is being held – this could be up to a 2 hour drive each way.
  • Liaise with ski leader (teacher in charge of the ski trip) regarding where to set up a pop up shop, the order of the evening and any particular messages to highlight to students/parents.
  • Set up pop up shop to maximise use of the space available, ensure the stock is well displayed, priced correctly and merchandised.
  • Show a video presentation to the audience of students and parents, providing valuable information on what ski wear is needed on a ski holiday – you would need to do this presentation yourself in the unlikely event that the video presentation doesn’t work for technical reasons. You may need to introduce/conclude the video presentation and take any questions.
  • Serve customers in the ‘shop’, advising customers, helping with sizing, taking orders for ski packs and ski wear, taking money etc
  • Work with other Surfanic staff (usually one other person depending on the size of the ski group) to set the shop up correctly and ensure all customers are given a first-class service.
  • Break down the shop, loading it on the van and returning it to the headquarters.
  • Return stock and sales orders to Rochford offices the following day. Ensure that the office is given all leads/actions generated during the previous evening and a list of stock replenishments required for the following evening.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Confident, charismatic personality with exemplary interpersonal and communication so that you represent Surfanic to the school in the best possible light.
  • Sales skills – you will need to maximise sales to the end customers (parents of students) selling through your knowledge and helpful approach rather than by being pushy, you need to spot every opportunity for an add-on sale.
  • Problem solving – every school is different and requires a different set-up, you will need to be able to adapt to each situation and cope with any problems with technology/teacher requirements etc.
  • Full and clean driver’s license.
  • Energetic – there is a lot of carrying and moving of stock and fixtures and fittings.
  • Willingness to learn about ski wear, the features, benefits and the technical information about the clothing and accessories.

Desirable

  • You are a keen skier/snowboarder or have been on a ski holiday in the past.
  • Presentation skills – you may have to talk to an audience that could be in excess of 100 people if the video presentation had technical difficulties.
